Belly Dancing

Belly Dancing

I was thinking about taking belly dancing classes. But does belly dancing offer a workout? Will it tone and shape my abs? Has anyone tried it? It looks like a lot of fun, but I'd also like it to offer results.

Tried it, didn't see results...

I tried a belly dancing video a few times a week for 3 weeks and didn't see much of a difference. My husband loved the moves, but my clothes were not getting any looser. Then my sister, who also has weight issues turned me on to fitandsharp.com. They have some really great products. After using the massaging top for a few weeks, I started to see results. I try and schedule in pilates a couple of times a week-which to me not only helps in weight loss but also flexibility, and I wear the top under my clothes when I go through my daily routine. Together I'm seeing results. You should definitely check it out.

BELLY DANCING

I think belly dancing is a very feminine and sexy thing to learn. Since money is an object, where can I learn for free? The only place I know fills up before I can blink my eyes

Belly Dancing!

It is fun and it is a lot harder than it looks! I get just as good cardio workout with belly dancing as I do 30 minutes on the tread mill! Check your local TV listing for a fitness show called "Shimmy". THey offer instruction and then do the dance at the end. It offers quite a workout in itself. There are videos that maybe you can rent or borrow from your library that will give you a taste before you join a class. I would use the belly dancing as a cardio mixed with some interval training and some strength (weight) training for a well rounded workout program....imho...

Yes it does

It actually works your legs even more because you're constantly have your knees bent and are squatting during the dance moves.
